Mandy Moore has made it to adult divadom by taking on clever, reflexive
acting roles, generally keeping it together personally, and putting out
albums that (like her personal life) might not be as gripping as some of her
peers', but are solid, sweet and generally well-sung. She continues her
transition into adult alternative with her fifth album, a collection of
laid-back coffee-shop ballads that shows off Moore's burgeoning skill as a
songwriter (she cowrote every track). Check out "Gardenia" for a great
example of just how much this post-teen queen has grown into her voice.
